Personally, setting trends and not following them is easier said than done. But when it comes to the clothing line Yours Truly, this is not the case. This brand from Brooklyn is the embodiment of a no BS attitude. Started in 2007 in the midst of a typical NYC fashion week, this relatively young brand is growing fast.

The brains behind this streetwear scene re-do is Jenny Musitano. She believes in bringing uniqueness and quality to the otherwise bland and generic street scene. This femme fatale was born in Seoul, South Korea but bred and raised in the US where she then decided to start Yours Truly. She says the name of her clothing line is all about how women represent themselves. Some designs are inspired by famous female celebrities. The name is also all about how the clothes were designed and made for you, and finally brought to you, out of a sincere desire for you, to Bring It.

Her designs focus on bright colors that really pop out, with a distinct influence from Brooklyn streetstyle.

Besides running Yours Truly, she also has a lot of other business ventures that has helped her to where she is now. She manages an event staffing team call J.A.M. that hires models and dancers for events and clubs. But her real dream was designing. Unlike most clothing brands, her goal isn’t to have women wear her shirts because of some kind of fad – rather she would like her customers to wear her clothing because it calls out to them. She says a Yours Truly girl is someone who “knows she got it going on and thrives to be even better”.

Yours Truly has been featured on a lot of hip online magazines and a number of high-profile fashion blogs. They were also in the MAGIC trade show in 2008. They have hosted a number of fashion shows to release their collections. So far they have 5 collections, their Introductory Line, Girls Play, Unruly, Upgrade Yourself and Above the Clouds, all of which call out to the everyday woman to start representing herself and follow their dreams.

For now this brand will focus mostly on printed tees. Ms. Musitano, however, promises to bring you more jeans, dresses, hoodies and other apparel. Yours truly is about bringing you what you want.
