A stunning A. Feretti dress.

A. Ferretti is the brand name that was created by Alberta Ferretti. She is an Italian fashion designer and dressmaker who has been dubbed as Milan’s resident “queen of chiffon”. With her flowing, signature goddess gowns, it is no wonder why her creations have been loved and become the object of desire of many Hollywood celebrities. Alberta Ferretti does her own design work for Alberta Ferretti and Philosophy di Alberta Ferretti.

For over 30 years, Alberta Ferretti designs have been bestowing the rich and famous with an ethereal look. Her evening wear has been worn by such people as Salma Hayek and Scarlett Johansson. In addition to evening wear, her collection now include such items as accessories, beachwear, and underwear; where she seeks to create an ultra feminine look for women.

Alberta Ferretti was born in the city Cattolica, Italy in the year 1950. Her mother was a successful dressmaker who supplied tourists during the 1950′s and 1960′s. Alberta Ferretti started her own shop for designer clothes in 1968 at the young age of 18. It was called “Jolly Shop” and was filled with brand name clothes from Krizia, Armani, and Versace. She launched her first label in 1974 and six years later started a manufacturing facility with her brother. Alberta Ferretti now designs for many other famous names such as Rifat Ozbek, Jean-Paul Gaultier, Narciso Rodriguez and Moschino.

In October of 1993, Alberta Ferretti presented clothes that were reminiscent of The Great Gatsby for her Milan ready-to-wear shows. One of the designs that she featured then was a rather long, trim gingham dress in pale blue. Another memorable dresses, a flapper dress, revealed a beige crocheted dress that was styled right above the knee. She also did diverse renditions of the toga for the production. They were done in a simple manner with some being short and some being long and draped.

Italian president Oscar Luigi Scalfaro nominated Alberta Ferretti to receive the Cavaliere del Lavoro in 1998. This is an award that is only given to those who have contributed considerably to the economic and social well being of Italy. It was quite an honor or the Italian designer.

Hollywood celebrities that have been known to wear her clothing include JoAnna Garcia, Cat Deeley, Elizabeth Banks, Marisa Tomei, Drew Barrymore, Miley Cyrus, Meryl Streep, Shenae Grimes, LeAnne Rimes, Molly Sims, and Kristen Stewart. There is no doubt that A. Ferretti is one of the most desirable fashion brands on the market.
