Cavi’s story begins in 2004. Then, three complete strangers to the fashion industry, but blessed with the rare ability of predicting the rise of new hot trends, joined forces to launch a label which was destined to rule the streets with its custom designed military styled shirts and streetwear accessories. The three fashion strategists are Phil Gapud, Nathan Krivosheyev and Danny Victor. Phil and Danny met as interns at Motown/Universal Records in New York City. Thanks to their common passion for music and fashion, they instantly became friends. Nathan, who attended the same college as Danny and was already making his mark on the fashion industry working with different accessories lines and manufacturing companies, completed the trio.
The brave young men approached the market with military precision. Their diverse cultural backgrounds (Filipino, Haitian and Russian) and expertise made easy for them to commence an attack on the global market. And so it was that Cavi custom designed military styled shirts entered the battle for the streets. The “think big approach” worked and in six short months, Cavi became a label desired by all streetwear addicts out there. Phil used his charm and his relationships in the music industry to get some famous artists to promote Cavi garments. Nathan and Danny concentrated all their efforts on the production process and operations of the business. They ensured that each shirt was produced at high quality standards and was in line with the core values of the brand. Cavi created quite a buzz around its fine out of the box products and everyone, celebrities included, came to appreciate the hot stuff put forward by the label.
All Cavi streetwear and accessories are designed to be crème de la crème. That is why every product is made with an obsessive attention to detail. All the military patches and military insignia are custom made and fitted to the shirts. Furthermore, Cavi’s snaps, buttons and medals are hand-made in a process resembling jewelry making. Cavi uses only 24K gold for its premium merchandize. The three founders of Cavi label have precise roles in the company. Phil Gapud is Head Designer & Director of Marketing, Nathan Krivosheyev is Director of Production and Danny Victor is Director of Sales and Operations.
Cavi is a clothing brand that can be proud of its media coverage. It was featured in many publications such as Urb, People, Complex, YRB, ESPN Magazine, 411 Japan. Cavi garments took the spot light on MTV, BET and HBO. Cavi is also popular with music superstars like Chris Brown, Akon, Fabolous Jay-Z and T.I. and athletes like Reggie Bush and Clinton Portis.
