Ennio Capasa – the man behind C’N’C Costume National.
When you say “Street and Couture” you should really think of C’N’C Costume National. There is no other luxury goods brand that has succeeded in mixing these two antagonistic elements. C’N’C Costume National defines an innovative “edgy chic style in which architecture, clothing, fragrances, accessories and footwear demonstrate the coherence and the innovative flair of the designer”. And the label’s designer is no other than the legendary Ennio Capasa, a man who succeeded – almost single handedly - to build on the pillars of good taste and infinite creativity an empire of fashion.
Rebellious C’N’C Costume National entered the spotlight in 2004. C’N’C Costume National is an organic extension of the main line Costume National, founded by Ennio Capasa and his brother Carlo in 1986. The younger line was created to reflect the trends and attitudes of the new street generation. Both young men and women choose C’N’C Costume National’s unique street-style clothes, accessories and comfortable footwear.
From its beginnings until now, C’N’C Costume National, was manufactured and distributed by Ittierre, which is the production company favored by many Italian designers. After its official launch in 2004, the label became a world wide phenomenon and a leader of its market segment. The company has also collaborated with different labels. In 2005, Ennio Capasa started a productive collaboration with Ducati. Then, C’N’C Costume National created for fashion and speed enthusiasts, a limited collection of items and accessories inspired by the “Black Dogo” motorbike, designed by Ennio for Ducati.
The account of C’N’C Costume National brand is not complete without a gaze into the spirit and life of its founder and designer, Ennio Capasa. He was born in Lecce in the Apulia region of Italy and graduated from Milan’s Belle Arti Academy in 1982. Fascinated by the purest form of design, Ennio studied and worked with Yohji Yamamoto for three years in Japan. In 1986, he returned in Italy, and together with his brother, founded Costume National. A book on French uniforms inspired the name of the brand that was destined to set standards in the fashion world. In the same year of its launch, Costume National earned numerous praises with its first collection showcased in Milan. Capasa’s unique style was then established: “essential and sophisticated, intellectual and creative, at times severe, often sexy yet always wearable”. And the rest is history.
