When the famous designer passed away suddenly in 2007, Gianfranco Ferre left behind a brilliant legacy. Gianfranco Ferre was regarded by many as “the architect of fashion” for his background  (he received a degree in architecture in 1969 at the Politecnico di Milano University) and for his imaginative and elegant mind. Gianfranco’s devoted celebrity clients included Elizabeth Taylor, Julia Roberts, Oprah Winfrey, Sophia Loren, Sharon Stone and Princess Diana. The Italian designer began his career in 1970 as a jewelry and accessories designer, then from 1972 to 1974 he designed raincoats. In 1974 Gianfranco founded his own company, Baila, and in 1978 launched his signature collection for women. Gianfranco Ferre was also Stylistic Director of Christian Dior from 1989 to 1997. It is worth noting that his label imparts a more relaxed feeling than Dior does. Also, a trade mark of Gianfranco designing style were sophisticated white shirts.

GF Ferre is the younger, more active line for men and women that remains faithful to the designing style of Gianfranco Ferre.
