In 2002, visionaries Ralph Reynolds, Mike Shocket, and George Metzger conceptualized a denim company that would send “shockwaves” to picky denim shoppers. After much deliberation, the trio came up with Indigo Red, a line that features clothes where “luxury meets industrial”.
Indigo Red is the sister company of Azzure Denim. The label’s “neo-street wear appeal” is a result of the fusion of haute couture, traditional street wear, athletic wear, and high fashion. Through the years, the brand has expanded into a notable denim company with its unique washes and applications.
According to owner and head designer Ralph Reynolds, Indigo Red approaches “the design of each garment in a similar manner to that of an artist beginning a masterpiece with a blank canvas”. He adds that “each piece is an opportunity to create greatness; hence, we struggle to create what would be deemed as a basic piece.” True enough, their attention to detail and inspirations are apparent in each pair of jeans.
Aside from its stylish jeans, the company works hard to promote peace throughout the world. With this perspective in mind, Indigo Red creates denims which flaunt peace signs with vines – a symbolic logo that delivers the label’s message of “spreading the message of peace to generations and cultures across the board – throughout the world.”
By 2006 the company became highly successful in their runway shows, catchy ad campaigns, and event sponsorships—which helped them become a dominating fore in the market.
In its Spring 2007 collection, Indigo Red revamped the face of denim fashion with the launch of a more traditional, European fit and cut. The new style was widely accepted by denim-loving fans because of its unique vintage-inspired washes. The same collection also included fine embroidery, flocking, and screen-printing drifting from the conventional back pocket treatments.
Currently, the label is working on the Zodiac Menswear Collection. Indigo Red hopes that this collection attracts men ranging from 18 to 35 years old, who likes to be unique and “go against the flow”. Known Indigo Red fans are rapper Ludacris and RB Julius Jones of NFL’s Dallas Cowboys.
