Roberto joined the Art Institute of Florence and specialized in textile print. His talent in designing was recognized by major Italian hosiery factories while still a student. In the early 1970s, he came up with a revolutionary printing procedure on leather and was immediately hired by famous fashion houses in Paris, including Hermes and Pierre Cardin.  In 1970, he also showcased his first namesake collection at the Salon for Pret-a-Porter in Paris. Roberto opened his first boutique in 1972 in Saint-Tropez with great success. Other fashion boutiques were opened in Saint Barth, in the French Caribbean, and in Venice in 1994. Roberto Cavalli has a main line that is available in over 50 countries all over the world. Also RC Menswear and, of course, the wild youth aimed line Just Cavalli, was launched in 1998.
