Lucky Brand is a well known designer denim company that was first founded in Vernon, California in the year of 1990. It was started by both Barry Perlman and Gene Montesano. The clothing that they produce are firmly rooted in rock ‘n’ roll and their signature lies within the sense of humor they present. Lucky Brand believes in individual style, independent thinking, and authenticity. The vintage inspired jeans that they make are were instantly recognized and became renowned for having a great fit. They produce such products as sportswear, wovens, denim, outerwear, knits, T-shirts and active wear.

Barry Perlman and Gene Montesano got their start in the fashion world back in the 1970′s when they turned their life long passion for blue jeans, rock ‘n’ roll, and their experience with the hippie-counterculture movement into a budding business. Gene Montesano at 21 and Barry Perlman at 17 years of age teamed up together in order to open a jeans shop in Florida named Four Way Street in the year of 1972, with business partner and friend named Bill Rudnick. Gene Montesano later left Florida and moved to California in 1978 in order to enter into the Los Angeles fashion industry by starting a brand named Bongo Jeans with a new partner by the name of Michael Caruso. He helped run that company for about 15 years and turned it into a multi-million dollar company. After that Gene Montesano decided to leave Bongo in order to start Lucky Brand with his old partner, Barry Perlman.

Lucky Brand is now a subsidiary of the Liz Claiborne fashion company ever since it was acquired in May of 1999. The clothing that they make is readily available in 150 company-owned stores located across the United States. They also have 3 stores that are located in Europe.
