Mighty Healthy is a brand of American urban wear that is not afraid to proclaim its ideals and “swim against the tide”. This collection of graphic shirts is known for its headstrong and factual designs, which makes it more than a clothing collection–it’s a strong statement. The trendy yet truthful tees are not afraid to divulge the juicy facts about crooked cops and people who claim credit they don’t deserve.

The brand was a result of a fashionable collaboration between DJ Denis Iderman and skateboarder Ray Mate. The line, which reflects the urban lifestyle, became official in 2004. These men based their design aesthetics by the 80’s and 90’s, the time in which hip hop and street skating were born. This era became a pivotal moment for a bunch of individuals who are not afraid to express their selves and their thoughts. With that in mind, Mighty Healthy aims to create clothes that do not stick to a certain theme or design.

Besides producing great clothes, Mighty Healthy also aims to create graphics which convey strong messages that tell an important story. With Iderman and Mate’s different backgrounds, each of their tastes and preferences have supplied the clothing line with fresh material to work with everyday. The designs that make their products distinguishable are brought about by the everyday experiences that have made founders Iderman and Mate the men they are today. Only five years in the business, Mighty Healthy has found a comfortable niche in the youth urban and skating market.

Expanding their Market

In August of 2006, Mighty Healthy made Empire Skateboard Distribution Company as its primary worldwide distributor. The company felt that making the company as their distributor would expand their market sales and ensure that its merchandise reaches its core customers. The collaboration has helped revolutionize the skateboarding and street wear market by teaming up the biggest names in urban fashion.

Soon after, the company has collaborated with DC Shoes to come up with the Life Collection. The theme is inspired by fashion, art, and music. The hip shoe is embellished with a purple sole rounded off with gold stitching accents and the Mighty Healthy logo on the tongue.

In December 2007, Mighty Healthy went out of its comfort zone to produce the Mighty Healthy and Logitech Ipod Speaker System. The following month it launched a cap collection in coordination with New Era.

By May 2008, the company presented two collaborative efforts. First was the BKRW and Mighty Healthy shirt collaboration, which comes in pink and purple. It also managed to team up with 123 Klan to produce another line of quality shirts, including the Connie Mack, The Mayor, and Bruno designs.

The fall 2008 collection was received warmly by Mighty Healthy fans everywhere as they presented their “New York to Los Angeles” collection. The collection consisted of shirts and fitted caps, which were the favorites of renowned celebrities and personalities.

Soon after, Mighty Healthy collaborated with a bunch of companies to work out on a sneaker and clothing collection which consisted of a reversible vest and branded t-shirts. The company teamed up with DVS and Huf to create the Mighty T-shirt, the Huf 5 Mid, and the Huf 5 Runner shoe.

As Mighty Healthy expanded its product line, the company’s trendy apparels have landed on the pages of a number of national magazines. Magazines such as Complex, Vibe, Sportswear International, Mass Appeal, Skateboard, YRB, and Vapors have all featured Mighty Healthy. It has also managed to find its way to hit Japanese magazines such as Warp and Bang.

Currently its products can be bought online at Karmaloop and Boundlessny. They can also be purchased from a number of retailers in 16 states across the country and internationally in Canada, Norway, New Zealand, Japan, United Kingdom, Sweden, France, and Taiwan.
