I was wearing it on an appointment with editors from Lucky and they loved the ring – they actually stole it off my finger to show their director. The next thing I knew, they were doing a feature on me as “One to Watch” – hot up and coming designers. I had no previous experience or knowledge of the industry nor a degree in design. After the Lucky feature hit, within weeks I was featured in Daily Candy and the rest is history.”
Rachel realized her potential, and, in 2004 left YSL to launch her own jewelry line. The beginnings were hard and Rachel struggled with the production process. She made all the jewelry by hand and met clients through links in the fashion industry and product requests from Lucky and Daily Candy. On her first fashion show at Henri Bendel, Rachel hand-made more than 200 rings and necklaces working night and day to finish on time. But all the hard work paid off! Now, Rachel Leigh shows off in showrooms in New York, Los Angeles, Dallas, San Francisco, Scandinavia, Germany, Paris, the Middle East, Japan, Korea and Canada. Also, the brand is present in high-end department stores, designer boutiques worldwide and, of course, all over the web.
