Sabit

Besides his clothing line G-Unit, Rapper and designer 50 Cent loves strutting his Sabit apparel on videos, tours, and appearances.
Sabit Clothing is a New York based company which creates a fashionable fusion of Japanese street wear and American couture. This premium fashion denim and sportswear line was launched in 2005 under the stewardship of Japanese-born and former Marc Ecko Director of Outerwear Shoichi Amemiya.
The word Sabit means “the hook” or “the best part of a song” in Japanese, which is truly the reflection of Amemiya’s vision of the clothing line. Its logo is represented by the swallow bird, which Japanese deem as a sign of good luck. According to Amemiya, his inspiration for his pieces comes from his homeland of Japan. The line is also inspired by Tanoshinde a Japanese philosophy meaning “enjoy”. True enough, its apparel has mirrored the fresh spirit of optimism.
Other than drawing inspiration from Japanese influences, the label also incorporates the Amekaji or American casual fashion. Its main focus of American fashion include: American denim, work wear, and military wear. According to Amemiya, Amekaji is “not only denim, it’s deep”. The innovative designer aims to present his own twist of Amekaji, which bases its roots on culture and fashion.
Amemiya is also influenced by life, street, clubs, music, traveling, meeting people, meditation—basically anywhere he finds enjoyment. Although not much of a shopper, loves fashion. He adores designers like Comme Des Garcons’ Junya Watanabe, and Hysteric Glamour’s Nobu Kitamura.
The brand itself is the designer’s successful attempt to design a trendy collection which everyone will love. He started designing at a young age as he attended the Osaka Mode Gakuen or Osaka Fashion School. His 25 years of experience in design, plus his natural eye for fashion, has helped him gear his unique fashion line into the mainstream.
Sabit patrons have learned to love the line’s vintage apparel and funky details. Apart from these pieces, the company also sells high quality selvedge denim, graphic tees, and unique outerwear. In 2006, just after a year in the business, Sabit was dubbed by MR Magazine as the “Editor’s Best of Fall of 2006”.

Famous rapper Ludacris loves taking his Sabit sweater and vest to his productions and gigs.
In January 2008, Sabit has collaborated with Miguel Ovalle, a graffiti artist, to launch the “Dizmo” shirt to be released the following month. The cotton jersey tee is embellished with a foil print, and is available in shades of white, purple, and block. Within the following two months, Sabit unveiled its Atsuo collection, which is composed of button down shirts in colorful gingham patterns. The Atsuo shirt has an open collar, a contrasted left chest pocket, embroideries and patches.
By April 2008 the brand unveiled its Spring 08 Collection, which featured the Cotton French Terry Cardigan. This trendy outerwear, available in white and black, features a colorful combination and a Sabit logo on the left chest. The collection was followed by a powerful Fall/Winter collection which was launched November of that year.
Other than gaining credibility among the public as well as critics, Sabit is a fashion favorite of hip hop icons. Stars such as P Diddy, 50 Cent, T.I., Chris Brown, T-Pain, Lil Wayne, Chris Brown, Ludacris, T.O.K., Mos Def, Ryo the Skywalker, Mighty Crown, King Jam, Exile, and Collie Budz, have been known to sport Sabit apparel.
Nowadays, Amemiya is all set on designing his Spring 2010 collection, and the possibility of coming up with a women’s and kids collection. Currently Sabit can be purchased at retailers such as Memes, Atrium, Goliath, Vault, Atmos, Victory Sq., Swagga 360, Pieces Brooklyn, Wealthy Hostage and Pulse.
