Russell Simmons Argyleculture Exclusive Interview with SoJonesTV
Oversized jackets, baggy jeans, statement t-shirts and collectible sneaks are just right for school or the weekend. But when you need to bring home the paper from a workplace that frowns upon casualwear, what are you going to wear?
If you do like everyone else, you’ll crowbar yourself into an anonymous white buttondown and soul-killing dress slacks. All you need is a briefcase and you’ll look just like your dad. It’s a sad state of affairs for fashion forward-thinking gentlemen everywhere, but there’s been no alternative– until now.
Hip hop mogul Russell Simmons is here to take you to the next level with his new menswear line, Argyleculture. The media and apparel magnate has been in the fashion business for almost 20 years with successes such as Baby Phat and Phat Farm under his belt, so to our minds he’s up to the near-impossible challenge to take on the difficult task of successfully metamorphosing an urban casual look into a more mature, professional style without taking away the edginess.
The collection reflects Russell’s vision of how ‘classic’ is seen from an urban point of view for a new look he calls the “urban graduate”. “Argyleculture is a new menswear collection commemorating the class, stature and respect achieved by those urban graduates who have “arrived” in the world. Russell Simmons Argyleculture focuses on the success of men over age 25, who are fulfilling their dreams. The line is the first official and authentic urban entrant into men’s fashion.”
Here’s a look at a few pieces from Argyleculture.

Russell Simmons really knows his stuff. It is time to take everybody out of the mundane and make going to work a little more relaxing with clothes that reflect your style, but still be allowed in the doors of your career.

Great looking clothes but Simmons' company makes it virtually impossible to buy them. When the web site's not down (as it's been for three days now), it rarely contains more than just a handful of items, and often claims that items are "coming soon" but those items never seem to show up.
And if the line is available at Macys, why doesn't Simmons get Macys to show it on -their- website?
Brilliant line, lousy execution of the business plan.
