Street Level Clothing is a fresh clothing line coming out of Los Angeles, California.  In our SoJonesTV exclusive interview, brand rep and co-owner John describes the brand as being “ol’ school hip hop gear with a new flavor.”

John hits upon a few unique items about Street Level Clothing:

  • The inspiration for their brand logo
  • How they mix old school look and feel with current urban fashion trends
  • The multi-layered flavor and creativity used in their unique t-shirt designs

As John explains, the inspiration for the Street Level Clothing logo seen above came from an elevator button which took riders down to street level.  The two Braille letters in the logo stand for “S” and “L.”

The “If you can’t see me, you got to feel me” t-shirt plays off your standard doctor’s eye chart.  By mixing the “seeing” of the chart with the “feeling” of the braille logo, you’re hit with a message that will make you do a double take, if you’re quick enough to catch it!

Another item shown in the SoJonesTV interview is their “Suicide Kings” t-shirt.  The shirt displays a playing card, however, the face of the “King” is of Bunchy Carter, an original member of the Black Panthers.

Street Level says that while t-shirts with a playing card on the front are common, you rarely see a shirt with the face of a African American “King.”

Along with these items from Street Level Clothing, also be on the look out for:

  • Ol’ school fitted golf hats
  • “Bad Brains” t-shirt
  • “Rhymin and Stealin” t-shirt

Thanks John and Street Level Clothing. Looking forward to seeing your next collection!
