Rihanna is all smiles under her umbrella.

Superstar and songstress of the mega hit single “Umbrella”; Rihanna has been a major success in the music world. When the singer released the “Good Girl Gone Bad” album, it helped her establish herself as a world-famous R&B artist.

According to Rihanna’s official site (www.rihannanow.com), “Umbrella” gained so much popularity that party-goers in London clubs were inspired to bring out their own umbrellas when the song was played. Consequently, this umbrella-raising hit written by Terius Nash, Christopher Stewart, and Kuk Harrell inspired the Totes-Isotoner Corporation, to design and manufacture the Rihanna Umbrella Collection. So in spring of 2006 the company, in coordination with Macy’s Department Store, launched the Rihanna Umbrellas.

The Totes website, sells five variations of these umbrellas. Among these are the Rihanna Signature Slender umbrella ($15), the Satin Stick umbrella ($25) and the Rihanna 2 Color Satin Stick umbrella ($50) which was used for Rihanna’s MTV Movie award performance.

On February 2007, the singer won the Grammy for Best Rap/Song Collaboration for the same song and graced New York Fashion Week with the launch of her second umbrella collection. The stylish rainy-day accessory was celebrated with a luncheon days before its release.

Because of her worldwide fame, Rihanna has been able to transcend from music, to fashion and back. In fact, with the success of her umbrella collection, it was evitable that she ventures off into producing clothing. On her official website, Rihanna merchandise such as t-shirts and posters are sold.

The cute merchandise include the “Heraldry” women’s t-shirt, the “Skull Angel” junior’s boy beater, the light pink ”Ghost Writer” sleeveless junior’s t-shirt, the “Transformed” women’s hoodie, and the brown ”Cat” logo t-shirt. These shirts range from $21.99 to $24.99.

The Marc Jacobs bag that was inspired by Rihanna

Also other than producing clothing of her own, Rihanna has also been as a source of inspiration among fashion designers. Legendary designer Marc Jacobs is one of those that have taken Rihanna as her muse. In a recent collection, Jacobs named a bag after the Barbadian singer. The silver and metallic bags truly emanate Rihanna’s style and fashion sense.

From singing to fashion design to fashion muse, this young songstress has done it all. Although she is relatively new to the industry, it is certain that Rihanna will continue dominating the music—and possibly the fashion—world for a while.
