DURKL clothing burst onto the street wear scene in Washington, DC in 2007. The brand was started by two brothers by the name of Will and Cole Sharp. The vibrant colors and unique designs that make up this clothing line are just what this industry needed.

Will and Cole Sharp grew up in Washington, DC. One day while hanging out with friends someone said the word DURKL. A year later the brothers asked if they could use that word as the name for their new tee shirt company. The friend said yes (of course) and the brand was born. They started out making and selling the tees themselves. More than two years later the clothing line became well known nationwide.

The brothers have achieved success through the help of companies as well as the sweat off their brow. The only store in Washington, DC that carries this line of clothing is a shop called Place Five. When the pair started the brand this boutique took notice of the innovative approach they had on street wear. The shop picked up the clothing line and still sells the clothing that is produced by this brand. DURKL has also been promoted by a company by the name of SabreVision. Sabre produces sunglasses that are sold as accessories in the street wear industry. The two companies have teamed up to create a new style of sunglasses called “Psychotic Reaction”.

While this is DURKL’s first attempt at accessories, the company makes a variety of unique clothing. The brand produces graphics tees, denim jeans, jackets, hats and sweats. The bold colors and unique designs on the clothing are inspired by the people who are individuals. These people wear what they like whether the look is “in style” or not. They are trendsetters, not slaves to the fashion industry. This shows in the pieces made by this brand. The designs are a mix between the 1980’s pop culture and the 1990’s style of clothing.

The clothing made by DURKL can be purchased at select retailers in the United States. The brand is also sold through retailers in Europe, Canada, Asia, Australia and Mexico. The website for the company maintains a complete list of retailers that sell the clothing line.
